KING OF CLUBS
3yo (NH) / 4yo (SH) Colt
Intello x Queen Arabella (Medicean)

Pedigree and Background
King Of Clubs is a 3yo Northern Hemisphere time / 4yo Southern Hemisphere time Bay Colt in training with Hughie Morrison in the United Kingdom.
He was passed in for 19,000 Guineas as a yearling at the Tatts October Book One Sale of 2019.
His sire Intello, whilst not being a 'headline maker' boasts impressive statistics and features:
He is himself a son of the sire sensation Galileo, and is bred from the phenomenally successful Galileo / Danehill cross which has featured so many Group 1 performers, least of all Frankel.
Intello hails from one of the best families in the book with his third and fourth dams, Elle Seule and Fall Aspen, having no less than 7 Group 1 winners under their names, including the great Dubai Millennium.
Unbeaten in two starts as a two year old, Intello proved to be one of the best European 3 year old colts of 2013. Having been extremely unlucky in running third in the Group 1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains, he gained just rewards when winning the Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby, 2400m) by a comfortable 2 length margin. On his next outing he displayed his speed and versatility by taking the Group 3 Prix Messidor over 1600m, before going on to finish third in the Group 1 Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le- Buffard Jacques le Marois over the same trip. On his final racecourse appearance he finished a highly creditable third in the Group 1 Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe (2000m) behind Treve.
He has an impressive 10% stakes performers to runners ratio and has shown versatility at a range of distances. Relative to the Australian market, his son Young Rascal was able to win the G3 Manion Cup over 2400m at Randwick beating Mugatoo. Another by Intello in that race Supernova finished third in that race and he performed admirably over staying trips during his time in Australia.
King Of Clubs is out of a Medicean mare, himself a more than handy broodmare sire. This nick has produced the extremely well performed Regal Reality, a multiple Group 3 winner and Group 1 placegetter, most notably a third placing in the Coral Eclipse (2000m), well regarded as one of Britain’s strongest Group 1 races on the calendar.
On the mares side of the pedigree (as per below) there is a host of Black Type performers across an array of distances and in a number of jurisdictions.

3yo Season
18th September 2021 - 7th of 10 - Newbury - Handicap - 2000m- beaten 6.75 lengths by Injatazi
Started 4/1 second favourite in very strong Saturday Handicap. A field of well-performed handicap winners who are Black-Type horses for the future.
Positioned in midfield throughout, raced keenly at times hard on the heels of other runners. It was an uncharacteristic ‘sit and sprint’ and couldn’t make up ground, placings barely changed throughout the run, which was the pattern of the day.
Post-race scope was ‘dirty’, but has come out of that well and has scoped clean subsequent. No ill effects observed at physical inspection 24/09/2021.
21st August 2021 - 1st of 11 - Sandown - Handicap - 2000m- WON by nose
Started 5/2 second favourite in very strong Saturday Handicap.
Held up just worse than midfield during the run, made up solid ground all the way down the straight to pip the second placed horse on the line. Very good win.
Second placed horse Victory Chimes has subsequently gone on to win at his next start and then win again in a listed contest 22nd September.
9th July 2021 - 3rd of 10 - Newmarket - 3yo Heritage Handicap - 2000m- beaten 4.25 lengths by Dubai Honour
Started 7/2 equal second favourite in a well-credentialed 3yo handicap at Newmarket.
Raced in 2nd during the run, leading the group behind breakaway leader. Exposed off the front end in the last 400m, sustaining a run, fighting back at the line to finish 3rd. Was probably allowed to do too much earlier in the race, going against his running style, which blunted his finish.
The winner Dubai Honour has subsequently gone on to very comfortably win a strong Group 2 contest in France.
After his Royal Ascot win previous to this race, the second placed Foxes Tales has gone on to win a Group 3 and then finish second in another Group 3.
4th placed Highland Rocker has gone on to win a Handicap race at Goodwood.
